The Project
The project will focus on the cultural legacy, investment and heritage of the life and work of the late Cardinal John Henry Newman on the Ladywood area. Over the period September 2009 to July 2010 it will engage with the local community and partner organisations to research and celebrate those aspects of his life and work that have left an impact on the on the heritage and culture of the Ladywood area.
A key part of the project will be an inter-generational theme involving community based learning for young people as well as older residents of the area including school based activities linked to the memories of older people. Preceded and supported by on going research into the cultural impact and heritage of his life, the project will, through a number of events draw out and celebrate those aspects and build up a post project resource that can be used by residents, partner organisations and others to ensure sustainability.
